Quote from: Curt on November 24, 2011, 03:26:29 AM I like the fact I am forced to make a decision on what to purchase and keep a budget. I have a great way to maintain a budget - I collect decks only from a certain series based on certain criteria. That way, I don't spend thousands on every deck possible. My current criteria is as follows:MUST be of Bicycle brandMUST have a Bicycle logo at top of the boxMUST have an AoS pip on front cover too! That way, I know what to buy, unless I am experimenting on other cards, than that's another story. If i didn't have this system, I would probably be in the toilet $500 more than i am.

O.O I have to ask you, what are the 4 decks next to the Split Spade trick decks?

They are rare. I've only ever seen a couple of other sets. Here are some pics... the artwork on the packaging boxes is also different from the production set
May i ask how much do you paid for the 4 promo Split Spade Decks?
here's an article about themhttp://www.magictimes.com/archives/2010/2010-09_30-spotlight.htm
That´s not too bad for rare cards like those.I think i would had bought them for that price as well.I doubt that there is a exact number of how many of those prototypes are made known.
maybe its a mistake but D&D has them on their site with those box designs!http://shop.dananddave.com/playing-cards/bicycle-split-spades.html
They have that awesome font that says "Split Spades" GEEZ! It takes me three tries to post a message because, "Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post." HAHA!
I would like to find out the full story on these prototypes one day. I got 2 sets of these off of ebay (traded one set last year). It was really weird. The seller I bought them from sold things like baby clothes, disney stuff, etc. not playing cards. She listed the set in some weird category with a weird title and I just got lucky and stumbled onto them. She said she couldn't remember how she came across them to sell. Weird!
What's the mini deck in the far bottom right with the green spade on the front?
yeah I've researched the decks. My question was how the decks ended up in this woman's hands. Basically who did they send the prototypes out to? I payed less than $50.00 a set if I remember correctly.
I've only ever seen 1 other.Sorry CBJ
