I like the fact I am forced to make a decision on what to purchase and keep a budget.

I have a great way to maintain a budget - I collect decks only from a certain series based on certain criteria. That way, I don't spend thousands on every deck possible. My current criteria is as follows:

MUST be of Bicycle brand
MUST have a Bicycle logo at top of the box
MUST have an AoS pip on front cover too!

That way, I know what to buy, unless I am experimenting on other cards, than that's another story. If i didn't have this system, I would probably be in the toilet $500 more than i am.

I also collect mostly Bicycle decks...

but, some of the other decks are sometimes too tempting.  lol

They are rare.  I've only ever seen a couple of other sets.

Here are some pics... the artwork on the packaging boxes is also different from the production set

Wow those first decks look awesome!! I like that box (looks like the standard bicycle box) more than the new box. Pretty amazing collection

That´s not too bad for rare cards like those.
I think i would had bought them for that price as well.
I doubt that there is a exact number of how many of those prototypes are made known.

5 Gross.  144X5 = 720 sets

I was told this by a bicycle rep.  She had no idea why they made so many prototypes... and neither do I.

If so many prototypes were made, then why do we never see them on the market? We're most of them destroyed or something?

Those picture seem to show the new decks from DB, the gimmicked decks. The prototype decks that CBJ owns kind of look similar but are definitely different. If you look to the immediate left of the prototype decks shown in CBJ's first pic, he has the new gimmicked decks there as well.

Ahh yes!
Sorry...just saw the Split Spades on the box.
The difference is that the Split Spade is poitning up/down on the box design....which is very obvious when comparing the pictures.
Once again sorry. :)
