The Conversation Parlor / Re: Favorite Music?
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:49:27 PM »
I enjoy a range of music, really just depends on the mood I am in. Jack Johnson and The National are great to relax to. When I snowboard I generally electronic music and a bit of dubstep, just to get into the mood. When I am just doing my normal day to day stuff I tend to listen to lots of remix and music that is upvoted on a website called Hype Machine.

Some bands I like

Deadmau5
The XX
Chromeo
Calvin Harris
Dragonette
Daft Punk
Justice

p.s. Evan, no need to make 3 consecutive 1 word posts...

just seemed like a very behind-the-times cheap horror flick to me

Ya, to each their own, but that is the exact reason I loved the first one, I love the fact is was created on a low budget and that it was not a blockbuster horror flick.

Inception, Shuter Island, Saw VI, Hangover I & II

Woo! another Saw fan! In my opinion I,II and III created an amazing trilogy. V killed the franchise, they focused too much on gore and not enough on the plot. Six really went back to how the entire franchise should have been directed and was a great movie. Saw 3D......Such a predictable ending that I saw, now pun intended, coming since the the end of the original

About 5 years ago I started practicing magic. Managed to land a few paid gigs but as I have grown older my real focus has turned on collecting and mechanics. I like to fiddle with cards when doing other stuff, like watching tv or studying, so it does not bother me to practice a difficult slight over and over until I get it right. I also enjoy being able to do difficult slights that other magicians can't do, compared to just buying a gimmick that everyone can use. Collecting is just a way for me to add art to my walls.... plus I enjoy trying to find deals on rare/vintage decks, makes it like a treasure hunt.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Favorite Television Quotes.
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:08:44 PM »
Nearly every episode of Dexter, there are hilarious quotes. Whether their said by Masuka or Dexter himself. Although the majority of them probably aren't appropriate for the forums ( involve either quite graphic material or lude sexual comments ). Highly suggest to anyone wanting a series to watch to check out dexter.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Lacrosse Players Here?
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:01:28 PM »
Being that Lacrosse is Canada's national sport, I do play on occasion and have many friends who play in competitive leagues. Lacrosse is such an exciting sport to watch, a bit like hockey with out ice. You have to be in pretty decent shape to play lacrosse, such a tiring sport.

As most people in the thread have stated, magic/performance finish is my favorite. One I handled an Artifice deck, the performance finish instantly became my favorite. That's why I am pleased with it being used on the Vortex.

I am going to plee with you Alex to hold a decent standard to what a post should be. Nothing frustrates me more than meaningless posts, for the sake of adding to your post count. I my opinion, each post ( or as many as possible ) should add to the discussion in one way or another. It is much more important to have a productive forum filled with posts the initiate thought provoking discussion than to have one with countless posts that add nothing to a discussion. I by no means am perfect with all of my posts, but I try to make each and every post I make as insightful and useful to the community as possible.

No worries Alex, that is exactly what I had figured. I really doubt there is going to be anyone extremely disappointed because there is no custom brick box. :p

I agree a custom brick box would be pretty cool. But I have to question exactly how much more money Alex would need. 3 or more times as many v6's were printed than the Vortex will be and given that USPCC has worked with D&D in the past would allow me to assume that a much larger run would be required to have a custom brick box for the Vortex. I could be wrong but then I don't see why every new deck on the market would not have a custom designed brick box.

Can yo make it so we can see who is on-line, and who is not?

You can already do that. Notice the box to the left of the individuals user names. White = offline, Green = Online

Also, if you go to the "view the memberlist" option under the "members" tab you can see who is online.

Also, if you are on the main Discourse page and look at the very bottom, it will show the users online, and if there are any guests.

When you are adding one from a 3rd party site you need to have the exact url to the image alone.

e.g http:// www .3rdpartysite.com/images/yourpic.jpg

or something like that in general ( without the spaces, I just did that do it would not link. )

Playing Card Plethora / Re: How should I store my cards?
« on: October 04, 2011, 01:12:39 PM »
I am not going to rate it on a scale from 1-10 but I will tell you what I think. It's honestly not going to matter if you have decks inside a wooden or plastic drawer, or in a cardboard box. As long as where you are storing the decks is does not have a separate range of humidity from the rest of your house, it is not going to matter whether they are touching plastic, wood or cardboard. Change in humidity is the only thing that is going to warp decks, so just keep them in a neutral environment.

I have mine if frames simply because I like how it displays them, not because it has some ability to make keep them in pristine condition, although since they are in view at all times it makes it easier to remove dust and such. But I don't allows sun to shine through onto them in the morning, might be a bit overprotective but what ever.

Feedback + Support / Re: Board ideas
« on: October 04, 2011, 12:54:14 PM »
Would it be possible to set up a temporary sales board, just until you have worked out the kinks in your new idea? It would be help neaten up the forums as the community grows.

966
Actually guys, it says Playing Cards Plethora is also for selling and trading decks.

I never stated it was not; I was stating my opinion. Alex has said that he is contemplating putting in a for sale/buying section or he has other plans for it. I think it would be best to add a buy/sell section now, while he works out the kinks in his new idea for it.

are you uploading it directly? or are you having it linked from a 3rd party site? I don't know if there is a file size limit if you are uploading, that could be the issue. Looks like it automatically resizes images so that shouldn't be the issue.

Kind of an odd issue where part of the forum says I am not logged in while I actually am.

I took a screen shot

My personal opinion is that we keep the "Playing Card Plethora" topic free of sale threads until Alex either decides to put a devoted thread for it, or is able to deploy his other plan he has for buying and selling. It will just keep the forums better organized.

Those frames are called shadow frames, frames with depth. I buy them at a craft store, then add the individual shelves with trim that is bought at a hardware store. All in all they cost approximately $30 to make.

This is what I posted above.

Still, it's hard to balance a budget between that and new decks.

Haha, totally agree 100%. every time I am about to commit to buying a few decks I always have to convince myself it's what I want more than another pair of shoes, jeans, cardigan..ect... and visa versa as well.

I am looking forward to seeing your set up alex,  the shelves you were talking about sounded pretty interesting. And yes, that is my goal to have the frames span across my wall, would look pretty nice.
