On Facebook BigBlingMedia writes:

"Karnival Death Heads - Armour Edition went into manufacture today. Made of 100% plastic they are NAILS. This deck is tougher than Chuck Norris, Sly Stallone and Randy Couture encased in a concrete slab which has then been forged into a skull crushing hammer. They LAUGH at your sweaty hands. They JEER at that puddle of beer. They smash the face of girlie Bikes. Coming soon beetches."

One way back, plastic deck, and skulls.

Three things I hate in one terribly convenient package.

I don't think that is the back they are going with. I'm pretty sure that is the ad they are going with. Not 100% sure, but I think the back will be different.

I'll be getting them because I happen to like BBM's stuff and I don't have any plastic cards.  Probably just get 1 deck, though.  Just bought 3 Hornets, so they've got enough from me for now.

I'm curious why they make plastic decks.
For other group prospective customers?

The only time I like plastic cards is for card games, because they take abuse well.

I love plastic cards for everyday use! I've mentioned it before, I play cards at my local coffee shop a lot and plastic cards are awesome. If a drink gets spilled the cards aren't ruined. They are also great for springs and they are just something different from most other cards.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

I've used Cartamundi Aces in plastic (regular and limited edition).  The texture on them is like a freshly-powdered paper card, they faro reasonably well and the stiffness is just right.  Some plastic cards (coughBICYCLEPRESTIGEcough) are a bit too springy, and the predecessor to the Prestige (plastic Bicycles with 808 Rider Backs which came in white peek-a-boo tuck boxes) actually tended to stick together, making them pretty terrible for most tricks.  I never tried the New Era decks - they're hard to find and not cheap when you do find them - but supposedly they're better for magic.

From what I was able to tell in reading about the Death Heads, BBM/Karnival wants to make a plastic deck that's good enough for magic (possibly even XCM).  Something with just the right texture and feel, but something that's meant to be tough and take abuse while coming back for more.

Wow, I wonder what the final finish of this deck is going to look like. I hope it doesn't look like that.

Any actual reason?  Their stuff is much better designer, original and way cheaper.
