In all fairness these decks are both "readers" and technically not marked decks per se, since marked decks are more associated with systems and codes that need to be memorized and are much more invisible to the naked eye.

I still feel that readers qualify as "marked" - they're just an easier form of marked deck to use.

My personal favorites are still the Ultimate Marked Deck, the GT Speedreader Deck and the Gambler's Deck, though I'd prefer a Gambler's Deck that was just a little more subtly marked.  The new Gambler's are available in Maiden Backs, which is nice, while the Speedreaders are in Mandolin Backs and the UMDs (if you can find them!) are Rider Backs.  Older Gambler's Decks were made in a generic back and in the Rider Back.

I'm actually going to be working very soon on a special home-brew project for a real "secret weapon" kind of deck akin to the Gambler's.  More info on that project as it becomes available...

How is the Ultimate Marked deck allowed? If it uses a real 808 back? Doesn't this fly in the face of the "Bicycle doesn't manipulate their precious 808 design?"

Although the ad copy says "Rider Back 808-R" Bicycle Cards

What is an 808-R?

A "reader?" Is this a deck that Bicycle owns? hmmmmmm

The UMD was originally created before the ban on alterations was put into effect by USPC.

I'm told that a second printing was snuck in under the radar in 2015 - they simply submitted it and USPC failed to pick up the alterations.  But that's just a rumor - one way or another, though, they did get another run made on the Rider Back design about two years ago or so.

The "R" in 808-R comes from the numbers and letters near the barcode at the bottom of the box.  Just before the move to Erlanger, they started printing "classic" boxes with a larger barcode and an alphanumeric code that identified the deck which ended in "808-R" - if you scout around, there was a topic on the subject a few years ago.
