I was looking for a competitor to Kickstarter due to the fact you have to be American to launch a project, and I came across this...

http://www.indiegogo.com/Olympus-Bicycle-Deck

The artist's name is Chris Bennett.  I sent him a FB message to see if he's still trying to bring this deck to life.
He obviously needs to put pledge rewards, etc.

I'll let you guys know what I find out.

On a side note.. for anyone who wants to have a kickstarter-type project but you don't live in the States, this is an option for you

Wow that's strangely similar to Si Scott's Ace of Spades design for the Smoke & Mirrors decks.

I remember I saw him posted many decks idea on E facebook page.
He has a lot good idea though.
But this funding is a give away $100, right?
It's hard to have people give away that much money to stangers.
I'd better donate to help my country that are facing the big flood, right now.

Yeah, indiegogo.  I had heard of them before; James Rolfe is using it to fund the Angry Video Game Nerd Movie.

I'm glad this guy is still trying to produce these cards, but I liked his other deck idea better.

He posted all of these on the Ellusionist Facebook page and I remember, the owners of the page showing us where he copied the images from... they weren't original artwork

Guys, the pointy-round thing behind the middle-circle is the Dan & Dave Ace of Spades design. I'm not sure about the other images, but that one alone is enough for me to question why this guy would make these cards. We all know the Smoke & Mirror designs, and it's so blatantly copied that it would take some real hard evidence (we're talking layered .psd files, timestamps, and some well-woven story) to gain any credence back.

Like I mentioned above, he did not use original artwork

The impact these cards will have on the magic community is colossus, having already done some market research and shown the design, i have had enormous positive feedback from magicians and cardistry experts alike.
Quoted from indiegogo http://www.indiegogo.com/Olympus-Bicycle-Deck

Absolutely insulting when he calls himself a graphic design student, using cliche clipart as well as downright theft on a design he calls his. From the layout it seems he knows little to none about design principles and from his methods, little to none about the playing card market at all. If his funding reaches $100 then I have to let Professor Farnsworth do the talking. Hopefully the community is smarter than that.

Also, colossus is a noun. If you're asking for money, at least proofread your description.

I'm confused, i'm not sure where you guys are seeing any ace of spades for this deck as there isn't a picture of it here nor is there one on his kickstarter type page.

You don't get anything for pledging.  It's not like other projects where you buy your decks in advance to start making them; he's just hoping people will like it enough to give him money to get it made.  A similar amount of effort was put into the 'celebrity dead of 1997' deck.  I won't be asking people to fund that one, however.  This deck is a definite pass.

Although he stole images, I liked his first deck 100x more, with the Pegasus and columns.

Also, this is the 4,000th post in "Playing Card Plethora" and my 500th post.  :D

That one wasn't original artwork either.

And congrats!

Which sucks, because I was almost positive he said he hand drew them.

That makes sense, but when he said "I hand drew everything, except the Greek text in the background", it led me to believe he drew everything from his mind.

Lol, definitely not. If it was his drawing, that would be an awesome deck

  Which one is that?
