Chuqii from Texas here.  I found the Discourse while trying to track down information on KEM decks and cases which I've just recently begun collecting.  I've always loved cards, and I like the old KEMs because even a 70 year old deck is still sturdy enough for my monthly poker night.  Oh, and I like old inlaid poker chips as well.

Hello, Chuqii - you're in good company here!

A vintage Kem guy - I'll admit I don't see a lot of them.  But we do have an entire section dedicated to vintage and antique playing cards.  We'd love it if you'd post some information about your decks to share with the rest of us - though you might end up creating more competition for yourself the next time you try to snag one cheap on eBay!  :))

Please do not be afraid to ask a question - we were all newbies once and we remember this as new people join our community.  Just remember to check the search function - there's a lot of history here and a fair chance your question may have been answered before!

You should also chat sometime with the board's owner, Tom Dawson.  He's the president of "52 Plus Joker", the North American playing card collectors' club and he co-authored with his wife, Judy, the current version of "Hochman's Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards", covering all known US-made decks prior to 1950.  The club makes an excellent quarterly newsletter, "Clear the Decks", that's worth the membership price all by itself.  There's a good chance he knows a bit about vintage Kem decks - and may even know people who know more.

Make yourself at home here.  You're among friends.
