Hiya,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post besides the introduction :)

Recently I started designing playing card decks and I ran a small kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1385928040/flaminko-1-playing-cards for a prototype deck to learn how the process worked. I learned a lot and had lots of fun in the process. The backers will be receiving the decks in the coming few months.

When all the backers have their rewards, I am planning to run a much more ambitious kickstarter for my original BURGER design, and in the lead up to that I'm trying to generate awareness and interest for the deck.

Can anyone give some advice if they know of a good way to spread the word about a playing card deck kickstarter?

Could be a good design - but we'd need to see faces, man!  Gotta have custom faces for a novelty deck like this.

Spreading the word?  Well, you're doing it right now - this is a collectors' forum, after all...  There are other forums as well, and there's publications about playing cards, mostly digital, as well as websites that cover them.

HI!! Sorry for the belated reply, I am still a newbie to forums, I had no Idea that a reply was made!

Thanks for the comments :D

The faces are all completed individually customized burgers. The suits are Patty, Cheese, Tomato and Lettuce for spade, diamond, heart and clover respectively.
I tried uploading some images of the faces but many of the file sizes were too big :/ The best way to see more of the deck would be visiting the instagram page:
https://www.instagram.com/flaminko_playingcards/

I'll try to resize and post some images though :)

The Instagram page is a little confusing because it appears like you have art from three different decks there.

The Burger deck looks nice, but it's a little too minimalist in its design.  You should look to something like the Chicken Nuggets deck for inspiration as well as the advertising art of some major burger chains that people would recognize around the world.  If you want a more nostalgic feel, look at OLD ad art from those companies, from the 1970s and 1980s.

Another issue to consider is that there's a certain sameness to the three decks you presented - it gives one a "been there, done that" feeling.  Make the art more distinctive and you might catch more attention for it, especially from your previous customers who've seen your older work.

Thank you for your feedback! It is greatly appreciated :D

Agreed the Instagram page is a little bit haphazard with the content and tone... The decks pictured mostly look similar in design because they belong to a set series, however they are all prototypes and haven't been brought to market yet. To give a better idea, we are only just starting out this year and the BURGER design will be the first we bring to kickstarter!

The minimalist style is intentional as I think it is an easy entry point for card design. I would definitely want to look at more intricate designs after getting more experience.  :bosswalk:
