I have collected this collection with great care but then my career sunk really low. I want to have some cash to buy a wedding present for my wife, that is why I need to get rid of it. I have 128 decks and not more than a dozen of them unsealed. You can see the collection here:

https://playingcarddb.com/cardcollection?u=7189

I mentioned that I will send it all off for $500. But I need to get rid of it. You can name your offer and I might just accept it. Plus I will be tremendously grateful.

Wow ... looks like it's gonna fund in 24 hours.
Only a few designers play in this lofty territory, and this guy completely deserves it.
Win-win.

He is funded already. I pledged right after the funding was finished. I didn't see this deck when I checked six hours back and it is already 100%. And yes, totally deserve it! Getting four decks for myself.

Is there any chance that Bicycle include this deck into its numbered series? I already have No.1 and No. 2 decks.

Is "Mixed patterns on backs of the cards" really a good idea? For one this makes the cards unplayable for almost any game. I do not understand this.

Some decks are made for serious card play.  Some decks are a bit more whimsical, meant for absolutely unserious card play.  This deck fits squarely in the latter category.  It lacks many of the features found in a practical deck, but that doesn't render it unplayable - just less desirable to some, especially people who use cards for a specific purpose, such as magic or cardistry.

Trust me, I didn't understand them much when I first encountered such decks, either!  They have their fans and can actually be quite fun and interesting - but they're not what you'd call "all-purpose."  Not a crime, but more of a handicap when it comes to sales.  The creator was smart in going for small-batch print runs, so she's not left holding the bag with a lot of unsold decks.

I think I see your point. I will back it and see how I feels about it later. I do like them on this second visit. I ordered a few. Also, she does have a uniform back design, which is not at all bad on eyes.

Got my Draconians. Love them!

They sure are nice. I would love to get my hand on them.

You can just take my money right now, because I know that this project will be funded and in fact it will hit the sealing. It is an amazing looking deck and it is so nice to go through the development through the thread. I hope I will be able to do something this Summer break. Good work! I will wait to see the kickstarter for this.

Haha, thanks naggarwal, really means a lot!

Hello, it is Nitin. I did sign up for the notification thing. I am looking forward to the KS launch of this deck. Count me in for backing this project. It was a nice idea and final product is looking amazing. Good luck!

Only backers can comment, dang! I bet it is someone who wants kickstarter to open comments for non-backers.

And now, the most-backed Kickstarter project of all time - and it's a CARD GAME!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elanlee/exploding-kittens

The goal was $10,000
It's presently at over $5.25 million, with over 133,000 backers!

15 days remain, if you want in on the action.

Rob wrote about it when it first launched, three posts ago.  This is NUTZ.  Shit - the numbers just got HIGHER while I watched, before I could even finish the post!

I am keeping track of this since its day one. It seems that the authors are already famous with their oatmeal series. That gave them a really good fan base to start with. I am guess that is the main reason for the millions they are going to get.

What I am amazed at is the game Conan. I think that this game is going to change the future of board games. Those little figurines will be there pretty much everywhere from monopoly to clue. Thank you 3D printers!

The amount of thought and care that has gone into this project is amazing.  I wasn't around for his previous campaigns, nor was I around for any projects that have raised more money than this, but I can see how starting a kickstarter campaign is an art in itself.  Take criticism off the bat, listen to suggestions and adapt, and finding creative ways to entice people into pledging more money.

The campaign is trending towards just shy of 155k.  This would make it surpass the first federal 52 campaign, and fall a little short of the muertos playing cards.  Something is telling me a deck of these might have some value :)

Only thing that made all this so much better is the pleasant nature of Chris. I gave him a suggestion through a message and he gave all his thought into the replies. You like it when someone takes your suggestions so seriously. I am just waiting to see fruits of those suggestions.

But more than anything, the work he did on this deck made it a masterpiece. I think it is better than my whole collection. And that of many others. Like someone else pointed out in this thread every card is telling a story. Kings do not have just their court in the background but what makes them special. More than that, they have personality. You can almost tell a story of how they rule. That, I think, is what any collector would like to have in their collection. And I am pretty sure people are going for extras to use them too.

Like I said it is going to take long long time to reach me, and I can barely wait.

This deck is just giving me a feeling that it is a great idea to have a deck that has all the US president on it but then I will wait for someone to do a neat job bringing them all in one deck.

Since last time I posted in this thread my collection increased from something like 30 decks to a 100 decks. I would really like someone to rate the collection. It is starting to become something like fun now. I can't stop buying more decks. But it is such a financial burden on me that my back is literally  bending down. I hope to have all the famous decks by summer and then will go for rare ones and the kickstarters, I hope that will pull down a significant factor of the cost. But yes I could not have started deck collection at a worse time. I hope I stay strong till the best part. lol! Sorry for me yapping.

Here is my collection: https://playingcarddb.com/mycollection?u=7189

I hope you would all like it. Thanks!

First, be careful not to bankrupt yourself!  There's a rule of thumb with decks, just like with trains - if you miss one, another will come along.

Second, there's only one criteria for rating your collection.  "Are you happy with these decks?"  :))

I am taking steps not to bankrupt myself. I think I will be able to survive. Plus I am becoming more picky about the decks I want in my collection. I am at that next stage I think which 52plusjokers mentions here:

Welcome to the Grand Hall of Addicted Collectors. Eventually you'll reach the next stage where you become fussy about what you buy and start de-acquisitioning the hastily bought decks whose appeal is lessening.!!

I hope everything work out eventually. I have a collection and I want to come out of this breaking in phase and then I will make this collection into something that anyone can admire. To answer Don's question. I think I admire this collection. Although I do not have many that are specifically rare or unique, I do have those decks which are really worth having, and with the features which makes them worthy of being in a collection.

I will wait on this one. This looking really nice.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/52ravens/the-coven-playing-cards/description

If you are especially feeling feminist then you should have your hand on this deck. It has all female court and that can only be possible in a Coven. But still the ladies in your circle will respect that you own a deck as such. I do not see how it is not flooded. These courts looks amazing. I might be missing something, but it is worth your collection and for playing games with your lady friends. I have ordered four of them, two for gift, one for my collection and one for personal use. Still this project needs 1000 pounds in 5 days. I request you are to consider backing this wonderful deck.

I know that you meant well, but please check to see if there's already a topic on the deck you wish to write about, as was the case with this deck.  I've merged the topics into one.

We try keeping deck topics in the Plethora to one per deck, thus making it simpler to find information on it later, for much the same reason encyclopedias don't have two listings for the same subject in different volumes...

I am sorry about this one. I think I just looked at the first page and could not find it there. I will be more vigilant from now on. I am sorry!

Was this drawn or composed with pictures?

Thing is that even if it is composed with pictures, the composition looks pleasant to eyes. I backed it seeing only one of the cards.

Oh, where do I begin?

I'm not going to go into a lengthy deconstruction of this deck.  Suffice it to say that it has the appearance of a teenager's first efforts - which is exactly what it is.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's far from enough to convince me to back it.  Artistry aside, there's a number of noteworthy flaws that would keep me away from it.  I will say, however, that while I dislike the faces and custom pips, the back design's not bad at all.  The tuck box, though - it's about as exciting as the old "no frills" packaging I used to see on cheap groceries back in the 1980s.  Not to mention it needs SERIOUS work, not the least of which being that part of the artwork intended for the package is printed outside of the die line.

You mentioned all the good things I liked about this deck. I guess I was just stuck with those and chose to ignore everything else. Thanks for your views Don.

I think I would like to have this deck in my collection, because this I feel is a better than an average deck. But maybe that's because I am crazy. You should check it out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/carloscontreras/tallans-playing-cards-by-carlos-contreras/description

I would really like to know your views about this one. I am asking because I am pretty sure not many others are going to post this one.

I ordered one too.

43 decks left total.  Did anyone on these forums even bother ordering any?

Only problem with this deck is that it will come after half a year from now. I am drooling over it since its launch. They are so good looking!

Finally getting into peoples hands..........well worth the wait, Bravo Lorenzo!

we all need to have the price of our decks increasing with time.

Honestly, I never purchase a deck as a monetary investment. I don't have any hopes or dreams of them increasing in value either as I have never sold a deck in my life. My only concern is when I get down to the last deck or last couple decks is, How difficult will this deck be to replace? That's the real sting for me recently. I'm buying restock of many decks I've enjoyed in the past. (Usually not the v1's I had before though, too costly!) Burned through them without really thinking about it at all. Replacing them has been more expensive than I ever thought it would be. I go slowly and do it over time so I can still pick up wonderful new decks to feed my appetite. I may not be the norm though, I'm a pretty bad card collector as far as collecting goes haha. I'm also, and probably will always be, a pretty heavy devourer of decks ahahah. I just can't seem to get enough!

I am sorry for saying that. I am not going to sell any of the decks I have either. But then I do not understand why we are keeping them wrapped in cellophane when we can easily tear it open and enjoy the wonderful collection we have. I have not even seen the cards in many of the decks, worrying too much that that would make my collection less remarkable. I think I will open them all up eventually. lol!

Being UK based doesn't seem to help projects get funded that quickly. I've seen worse US projects get double the money this needs no problem. I've been in for a couple of decks since launch of this, I love all the crows! >:(

Crows are nice yes. Plus these decks are giving a sort of extra vibe of dark energy typical to anything covens related. I bet it will be fun to have a deck like this for those night games.

Thanks Don,

I am going to get a dozen something from post in a few days and then I will focus mostly on kickstarter and the new decks. I can see how it is a bad idea spending 100 bucks on Arcane gold deck instead of a lesser amount on much more appealing decks on kickstarter. I didn't know they are making so many of those amazing decks. I will show you the ones when I will get them.

Is THAT what Gold Arcanes go for these days?  I remember when they were half that price, even less!

I think it is more than that even. On ebay minimum price is $107 and it goes as high as $187. I think it will increase further.

I suggest a little more digging. Gold Arcane can be had for $80 now and lower on occasion. Better to pick them up in a trade or something in my opinion though. I love my E decks, just not at $80+ haha.

Nice collection you have going by the way. Looking good! I've been considering the Celtic Myth cards to add to my own collection lately. I think their swirly funky back is pretty interesting.

Thanks for the comment on the collection Fes. I am keeping it up to date. It is a sad thing that if I check the decks then their value will decrease. I guess I will eventually just open them all.

About arcane gold decks. I think those $80 decks are coming with $15 shipping. And anyway ellusionist is selling them at $100. Anyway, we all need to have the price of our decks increasing with time.
