This deck, c1890, was the first Treasury #89. It had this special joker with, I believe, images of real US coins. Can anyone provide more info on the coins?

The first coin is a Liberty Seated Dimes :

I think that the coin of the middle is just a symbol of the factory for this deck and did not really exist, even if the eagle looks like the one who is on this coin : http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Hierarchy.aspx?c=770

Actually, I think it IS that coin.  The design is too close to be coincidental.  It was simply modified to promote the card company rather than the Federal government.  Also there are rules about making too close of a copy of currency, though I don't think that would apply to paper prints of a metal coin.

My father ran afoul of those rules in the late '70s when the Secret Service knocked on his door over a piece of advertisement he made for his company that only vaguely resembled a $100 bill.  Wrong paper, wrong ink, many alterations, but they still ordered him to cease and desist, the argument being that in a dark bar, you could pass one off as the real thing and it had enough of the right details that it might go unnoticed.  Perhaps he should have tried a three-and-a-half dollar bill, or a 13 dollar bill?  :))

I am curious to know if the Treasury #89 US18-1 was published with a different back (especially the well known with the angels in corners) from the one that shows Tom, because of the same symbols on the Back and the Joker : the eagle and the shield. Would anybody have information ?

Well, I can't really answer that, but I can say that the eagle and shield were very common motifs for US currency in the late 19th-century and heading into the 20th.

My guess is it was published with several different backs - but not the floral backs used in the next Treasury iteration [US18a].

And it would therefore be logical to design a back for "Treasury" which incorporated those motifs.
