I just opened my first deck of virginia slims, they were sealed. And they handle really badly: they clump up etc. Is this normal?

I'm pretty sure it's one of those decks that gets better over time. I would just break it in and give it some time and then see how they handle

Maybe you are right... I'm trying to break them in!

That doesn`t sound right, V Slims are supposed to be good out of the box but they wear off fast.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

They seem to be getting a little better know that I fan them and spring them and dribble them... idk though. Maybe I should ask Alex... He would know!

I've heard from many people on here that they only get better over time. I don't know from experience, but that's word on the street.

V-slims is the sort of deck where you will love it and hate it all within the same day. From my experience out of the box they are okay, slightly better then a bike deck. The more you handle it and break it in the better it gets *this is where you love it*. But if you push v-slims limits, limits being the point where it clumps from so much use, you will hate it. I love the deck i think its a great cheap alternative to the modern day decks. Perhaps you just got an off deck, or you don't know how to handle v-slims :P

Mine were great straight outta the box but I'm probably not the best judge of things like that, truth be told.  I can say that I've handed about 150 decks and these were definitely top 10 for me.

I've heard that they need to be broken in first. But I've also heard that they handle great straight out of the box.

Thx for the advice guys! I broke them in and now they are okay. Not as good as bikes, but not bad either. However I do like the faces a lot!

They rarely handle great out of the box. Most decks I've owned are warped and bent in the box. After hours of working them in, you can transform them into the best handling deck in your collection.

They last forever, too. I've had a red and blue deck that I've been using for over a year and I still have zero clumping and zero crimping.

Thanks a lot. Wow. I've heard so many different things on this thread!
1) They handle great right out of the box
2) You have to work them in before they handle well
3) After a while they will start clumping them and you will hate them
4) They last forever

WTF? LOL but anyways, no offense to all others, I trust Alex because he was the one who showed me a great deal.
Another question, how many colors do they come in? Just green and brown?
Thx,
Nathan

Well each deck (even if its the same deck) will handle differently and a deck that old may have been in many different atmospheres and other things that could change the way it will handle.

I have more than one and I didn't buy them for the purpose of collecting. They remain sealed just because I forgot I have these decks... (They were sent to me with other decks I really want and easy to be ignored in this situation)

After a while they'll start clumping? That's not true, unless you make sure to coat your hands with olive oil and sand before use.

Well i tried fanning butter and my v-slims and they just started clumping maybe its because i didn't use HQ butter.

Anyway its more likely then not i didn't treat the deck of v-slims i described the best, just break them in and treat them right and they will handle just fine.

I opened mine. No cellophane, no wax paper, cards are influenced by environment conditions even though the deck is sealed. I can feel the wax on the faces of the cards and my fingertips get oily (<-- I don't know how to describe) after handling 1 minutes, just like de'vo's Blades. The heavy wax on the V.Slims cards makes the cards fan awesome and protect themselves from moisture.

I didn't compare them side by side, but I think this deck is as thin as the mid-80s golden-green Golden Nugget. However, the paper (stock) of this deck is much weaker than the GN.

A very special deck, smooth finish with heavy wax, slippery, thin (though the stock is poor IMO), traditional cut, ... worth a try.

Digipunk, your fingers don't actually get oily. No residue is removed from the cards, it's your brain tricking you because of how slippery and friction-less the cards feel.

The deck is actually a few cards thinner than the Absolut Vodka.
