I just recently stumbled upon these cards and I hear they are rare and may possibly be worth a decent amount of money later on. "Heard they were only available or sold in Japan and the AoS "S2023" which suggests it is from 1973. I do not know much more about this deck and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on these cards for me and the community for people who do not know about them.
This thread sparked some interest for me:

I agree Robert, but I would like some more info on this deck if available and to see if these are even worth it.

Well I've spent all of my time studying USPCC decks and this is not one of them.  I cannot offer any insight to this one mate, sorry.

From what I gather, they are supposed to be very similar to Jerry's in stock and feel. I quite like the simple design and would love to add these to my collection.  This is what the ebay description had

"
This simple but amazing playing cards are made 30-40 years back by the U.S. Playing Card Company, USPC Co.
USPC Co. is very well known as manufacture of Jerry's Nugget playing card.
This is amazing cards like Jerry's Nugget's, and will make anyone who deals with cards happy!
New and still sealed from decades ago."

Contrary to what some others of you seem to think, I quite like the back design. Very plain, and simple. While I love intricate, detailed designs, I'm also a sucker for minimalism. But, saying that, I wouldn't spend more than a couple of dollars on these decks - no way would I pay the price that they seem to be being sold for.

The high price has a lot to do with the fact that the red and blue plain-backed decks were exclusive for sale in Japan, making them hard to find here.

Do you guys think it is worth$35-$40 for a set? I believe I may pick these up soon. Yet, to spend that money for the set I would want to know a little history and possibly weigh out future benefits and see if these are worth it.

From this YouTube video, they look like they handle well for flourishing.

You guys would be surprised to know how difficult it is to handle the Jerry's and Jerry-like decks. I have plenty of 60-80's era decks that are much harder to fan, spring and dribble. Their advantage is for cuts, and nothing more.

These are indeed USPCC decks... As for their design -ehhh... As for their handling... I don't know, I keep my decks sealed... They were ordered by the Japanese and printed by the USPCC... There are other Friars clubs from around the U.S. that have used this design, as well as a casino or two, all of whom have had their decks printed by the USPCC, but these in particular were done without a design... They're certainly not my favorite, but I have a set in the collection... Be careful, because they bruise easily even through the cellophane due to their age...

I dont think they worth 30-40$.
The design is nothing. It has value only that they are collectible vintage decks.

Being vintage/collectible already makes them worth the price, so I don't see where you're going with your argument, but either way...

I actually like the design on those, we don't often see such a simple back design and it really gives it a nice discreet look that allows you to bring the focus onto what you use them for rather than on the deck itself. When used properly, simplicity can be a mark of good taste.
Now I'm thinking of the blue one. The orange does look a little tacky, but I never go for the red side of the set anyway. With the exception of the vintage plaids.

The back design okay. But what i dont like is the ace of spade.
Its really ugly in my opinion. However, im going to find if there are someone selling it in japan. I wanna know how the deck handle.

Hmm now I can understand why you wouldn't like that. :) I actually don't mind it at all, but specific details have a different impact on different people.
I'm currently in a no-buy period as I need to add to my wardrobe and pay off some of my credit, but it's definitely a deck I'd like to try as well as have in my collection.

It's a nice deck, but if I was to buy it I would need to know more like Atheosile mentioned. I wouldn't mind knowing a little more about this one really  :)

I've seen this deck on eBay before, I think one of the "major" eBay sellers had it.  A good way to find out might be to ask them - there's a fair chance they actually opened a pack.

I was also looking at this deck a while ago and first found it from watching this review video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjL70ljpSQ&feature=plcp&context=C315131bUDOEgsToPDskK5C8GzJlfaew4t4bS9soux

The guy doesn't say anything but you get a rough idea of how the cards handle and look like.

I'm surprised how much the decks are going for, the site you could get them from still had them in stock for $5 a deck last year (shame only posted to Japan).

Hope this helps.

I gave the video a quick look - it's largely cuts.  Without seeing fans and spreads, it's harder to tell just how well they handle.  And with such a plain back, I can't imagine it's the best choice for cardistry.

Now that's a bit better.  They appear to handle reasonably well for a smooth-finish deck.

I was able to get buy two sets (blue and orange). The orange ones are still sealed in cellophane but the blues ones don't have cellophane. The seller said that, that was how he received them. I should be getting them in the mail soon and will post one set in the trade section (with pictures) once I receive them.

I just notice that Ponta the Smith uses these cards in two effects ( Matrix and Backfire Assembly)  in his Sick DVD. He uses the four aces from the blue back deck and I must say that I really like the look of the cards.
