  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
People complain endlessly about the way companies like T11 and E tease their new projects. This is emulating their practice but won't get you the interest you are hoping for. Feel free to show us more of the deck, we would love to see what you are working on.

With so many Kickstarters every day, and more and more releases from companies Like D/D, T11 and E a small teaser showing off an uninspired design without giving us more to go off of is going to be a detriment to your project, not a boon.
Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

I watched the video and it showed me less than the image haha. I'm not trying to be untoward here but, If you bring a deck to the table being the fucking deck to the table. Consider how much time we've all wasted with coming soon "thrilla's" from the big bois. Be upfront with us, we'll be upfront with you. I can imagine how it played out in the mind, this is going to be a cool tease segment and generate some interest. In all reality though, this kind of thing will instantly put a bad taste in a persons mouth.

Judging from the work done on your brand logo, you know what you're about design wise. Excite us with that, believe it or not we love playing cards here. ;)

Would you be so kind as to tell us the name of said tease deck that is coming soon to Kickstarter?
Part of my Collection updated infrequently but occasionally, when I remember. (I haven't in months.)

Manoj, I went ahead and changed the title of the topic.  "Coming soon to KICKSTARTER!" would easily describe any of several hundred decks that come through here every year - I'd hope you'd want your design to stand out just a little more than that.

These guys are right.  For playing cards, the days of the drawn-out teaser campaign are LONG DEAD, vanished and turned to dust the day that Kickstarter became the epicenter of all the vibrations coming from the custom card world.  With so many projects in the pipeline from so many artists, think of it like channel-surfing on the cable box, with hundreds of channels from which to choose - if you don't grab their attention in the first few seconds when they click to your channel, they're gone; they've hit the remote and are off to the next channel.  You don't have TIME for a teaser campaign with that short of an attention span!  Just spit it out or your potential customers will lose interest and move on.

At your first opportunity, I'd suggest changing the title of your first post to include the name of the deck, then get on with the business of introducing it to the world at large instead of wasting time on teasers that will only backfire.

I'd be careful about presenting the deck's name in that manner.  It looks strikingly similar to how the automobile company that makes Jaguars presented their brand name in some of their advertising not long ago.  If their lawyers agree with me, you could be looking at a royal legal mess amidst a flurry of cease-and-desist notices...  Worse, they could come after you AFTER the Kickstarter project has closed, leaving you on the hook for fulfilling your backers' rewards AND dealing with the legal issues.  That actually happened to the never-produced "Bicycle Army Men" deck - the designer didn't realize that "Army Men" was a copyrighted name for the toy.  It essentially destroyed his career as a deck designer.

Consider removing the metallic effect and using a different typeface, something distinctly different from that used by the auto maker, in the past or in the present - unless you enjoy legal disputes and empty bank accounts, naturally...

$18 for two on the early bird? That's not too bad

I think you need to review your pledge tiers again...you are offering the Classic Bicycle Deck instead of Jaguar.

Question: Are both of the Joker cards the same...both black?  Many card games require two different jokers, even if they are only slightly different (say make one of the jaguars have red or yellow eyes)

Some games do require different jokers - but some don't, and some magicians take advantage of the two jokers being identical for certain tricks.  There's as many reasons to make them identical as there are to make them different; it's really up to the creator's preference.

The best combination I've found so far are decks with three jokers - two identical, one different.  Not many decks have them - off the top of my head, I can think of the old Cartamundi Magic Castle decks and the Bicycle Samurai deck by Sam Hayles/DOSE Productions, best known for his work with Big Blind Media on their Karnival series.
