I have some really great news. It's been a very slow process, but earlier this week I received official approval and licensing from the United States Army to proceed with the Army deck and subsequently the other armed forces decks. I had already secured licensing from the other branches but was just waiting for the Army as it was logical branch to start with.

Not really sure when I will do the project or how I will do it (Kickstarter, Kings Wild Funded, Self funded) Not sure yet, but will keep you guys updated.

Too bad you didn't get it earlier, would've been awesome to launch a campaign yesterday, June 14th, the Army's Birthday.  I know myself and a lot of my friends that are former Army are really looking forward to this deck.

Since you're in update mode, is the Hive deck next on the release schedule?  If so, do you have any dates for us to mark down on the calendar? If it's the baseball decks, do you have any dates for us to mark down on the calendar? If it's the standard decks, do you have any dates for us to mark down on the calendar? :)

The Hive is printed. Now it's just waiting for it to be loaded on a boat, shipped across the Pacific and then to Kings Wild. Unfortunately, it's hard to give a solid estimate on that as there's time needed to clear customs as well. To contradict to last sentence, I'd say some time in August. The closer to when the deck actually is to port, the better we can give a solid date on when they will be up for sale on the Kings Wild site. But for now, see the fun pictures taken from the KW Facebook page of decks pulled and shipped early to us.

You've designed an excellent deck. August'ish sounds good. The last key to the puzzle is pricing. Obviously, the lower the better. I hope it's at or below Kickstarter levels. I hope Jackson is keeping you busy on your next deck!

Jackson, your work has been breathtaking.  I noticed your next project will be on the National Pastime.  Do you have a launch date yet?  Any hints what to expect?  I imagine we will be seeing some of the legends in this deck.

Seems like it's going to be a huge summer for Kings Wild. The Hive is coming, you've teased the Tally Ho's and on your homepage the baseball decks are coming.

When you have dates when they are going to launch and on what platform, please feel free to update this thread!  ??? :D

As for the Tally Ho deck I hope to launch them on my new Pre Order / Crowdfunded Kings Wild Funded Platform on Monday July 14th. Kings Wild Funded is 99% finished and squeaky clean. I've taken everything about Kickstarter and crowdfunding I love and got rid of everything I hate about Kickstarter and created something that I think you guys are really going to like. The price point will be easy on the wallet.

I'm finishing up some details for the National Pastime Deck and if all promotional stuff together as planned I will launch that project on Kickstarter on the 26th.

And to answer question about the baseball deck being on Kickstarter. The Tally Ho deck is for a much more niche market and a much smaller project than the baseball deck, and I want my first "go" of Kings Wild Funded to be very straight forward. Also the card collecting community makes up about 30% of my costumer base and also the only people who really know about my site. I'll utilize the reach of Kickstarter to try and capture more card rookies and turn them over to the dark side. :)

This is the best part of all. Helps me pick up even more decks!

So if all goes as planned the Kings Wild Tally Ho decks will be available for pre-order on Monday July the 14th. This will be my first test drive of my new Kings Wild Funded Platform.

Deck prices will be as follows:

1x Deck $8 Plus Shipping
1x Brick $90 Plus Shipping
1x Gross $1000 Plus Shipping

With Kings Wild Funded both domestic & international shipping are handled separately so International costumers will not have to feel the sting of paying both domestic and international shipping. My platform is simple to use and I'm sure most everyone will find it an enjoyable experience.

Here are images of all the Court Cards & Gaff Cards that have already been approved my USPCC Legal and Marketing and also have already been submitted for production. I'm being very realistic about production times and am advertising a estimated delivery date for December 2014 but predict delivery earlier than that.

The court set I am using for the Kings Wild Tally Ho deck are my new Kings Wild Standard Court set that I will be using on future "standard" style decks. The Tally Ho AoS and Jokers are unique to the Kings Wild Tally Ho deck and are not part of the Kings Wild Standard Court Set.

There will be no limited edition during this project. I want to keep this project very simple so that my first "go" at Kings Wild Funded has a great chance of success. I do plan on making a LTD edition of my Tally Ho deck but for now, no. I also wanted to keep the production cost low to help keep the retail price low.

Judging from the red back gaff, I'm guessing the only color will be blue?

Three Big announcements:

1. I'm happy to announce that I have designed, with the cooperation of Expert Playing Card Company and the 52 Plus Joker Club, a unique deck of playing cards for distribution at the Club’s October Convention in Charleston. There, you will have the incredible opportunity to acquire decks from this limited edition of only 500. No expense is being spared for these very special decks - they will truly be historic! More details to come soon

2. We have really working on the story we want to tell with the National Pastime project and have decided to delay this project until October (World Series time) when Baseball will be on more peoples minds. We also have some refining on some short film stuff we are doing for the project.

3. Because we have delayed the National Pastime Deck it has allowed us to rearrange our calendar. We also just recently FINALLY got the licensing agreement ironed out with the US Army. I happy to announce that the Army project will be going live tentatively on Saturday August 9th. We have some awesome things planned for this project and it will be big in proper Kings Wild fashion. This project will definitely be on Kickstarter as I will be appealing to a large non card collector crowd. I will have more details soon but stay tuned and don't be shy to ask any specific questions here in the Kings Wild company thread.

Thats a large chunk of change for a deck. Are the production costs at EPC a lot higher than uspcc?

Actually, they're lower.  But when you make a short run on a deck, the per-deck cost will always rise.  Shorter the run, higher the price.  USPC won't do a print run as small as you can get through EPCC.

Looks like someone's remaking an old USPC deck...again...  :))  I wonder if he'll update it to include the Marine Corps, the Air Force and the Coast Guard?  Oh, and we can't forget Halliburton, Blackthorne, etc.  :))

Thats a large chunk of change for a deck. Are the production costs at EPC a lot higher than uspcc?

Production cost always varies depending on what is done and how much is done.

I know that the price for The Hive might seem a bit high, but I think it's comparable to other smaller print run and a fully customized deck..

Hello everyone. I just wanted to make the official announcement about the release date and price point for the HIVE decks.

The HIVE decks will be exclusively sold on the Kings Wild Website on Saturday August 2, 2014 @ 12pm Central with a delivery of mid to late August.

Here is how the price breakdowns:

1 Deck - $18 plus shipping
1 Matching Number Set (1 Red deck & 1 Blue deck) - $34 plus shipping
1 Mix Brick (6 Red decks & 6 Blue decks) - $200 plus shipping

http://kings-wild-project.myshopify.com/products/limtied-edition-hive-playing-card-deck

Less than 800 of each color will be available.

Will the shipping be the same as it was for the KingsWildFunded Tally-Ho deck?

Quote
Your first single deck has a base shipping fee of either  $4 Domestic or $10 International, and every additional deck has a base shipping fee of $1 Domestic or $2 International. If you would like to order multiple decks you will see a quantity dropdown menu located on the pledge details page just before checking out.

The time zone isn't friendly for me on this one...2:00 am!

The sell and shipping of the HIVE will be more like a normal webstore experience as they are already printed and will be shipped soon after ordering. Shipping will more exact in comparison to Kickstarter or the Tally Ho project as your Zip/Country Code will go into calculating your shipping costs.

Yes, I'm just wrapping up some last details with production. Hopefully the ARMY KICKSTARTER will go live on Saturday August 23rd @ 12:00pm Central. And yes there will absolutely be Limited Quantity Items. With that said it has been a very long back and forth with the ARMY to get things in place so anything can happen but all the work I've been doing this past month would be for nothing so I'm pretty confident in the Aug 23rd release date.

JACKSON!  Please - for the sake of tradition, DON'T change the deck's original number!  Tigers are 101, Army and Navy are 303 (or 303x if gilded)!  You of all of us should know that card collectors love tradition.

Have no fear, the 101 will most likely change. The court card set on the 303s Army Navy deck (which is the one I have) is not my favorite. I really don't like the flesh color added to the faces or the style of figures used. One of my favorite court sets are that of one of my original Steamboat 999 decks. It uses a strong two color scheme of red and black and I will be utilizing that 2 color scheme in relationship to the branch.

e.g.

Army Black/Green
Navy Black/Blue
Marines Black/Red
AirForce Black/Silver

Playing cards are my art and if I wanted to just copy a deck it would be interesting or allow for any self expression. I don't really want to put 999 on it but don't feel right about putting 303 on it either if I change the courts. I most likely will put the No 13 on it as I used that for my Kings Wild Tally Hos. I don't believe in luck but I have always like the number 13.

Tradition is very important to me, but writing my own part of the story is as well not just copying, that is why most of the elements have changed on the tuck.

What ever courts I use I will be completely redrawing them to refresh the design.

Here are example and links of the three court sets I was talking about and for any one who wants to look deeper.

Not knowing about the history of these decks, I had assumed when this was originally announced (what seems like years ago) these would be full custom court decks.  Saddened to see they will be variations on traditional courts, but I'll still keep an eye on this project.  I'm sure Jackson will make something just too cool about them for me to resist.

This specific deck is only one of a few decks I will offer during my Army project. I'm creating this specific deck only because the original is one of my favorite decks (more specifically the tuck) in my own personal collection. I assure you, you won't be disappointing int the custom courts of the other decks. :)

There's no reason why you couldn't alter or update the courts to whatever fit the bill.  All of USPC's brands have a changing gallery of courts over the years.  And I really do like the idea of using the number 303!  It's tradition.

Also Tom, could you explain the "Second Quality" phrase on the original Army navy Tuck, seems kind of bad marketing saying this isn't our best quality... That's why i changed mine to "Finest"

Side note for Don, should I be talking about design stuff in this thread or another one in Development. I'm just lazy and don't like having more than one thread.

I know a wee bit about it.  Occasionally decks got through printing which were a little defective, but still in usable condition.  These were sold as "factory seconds".  For a costlier brand (Army & Navy were premium decks), it gave people a chance to own the more expensive cards without paying the top-dollar price, and USPC didn't have to trash entire print runs that didn't meet quality standards.

One of three back design for my upcoming Army project. This is the back design for the 1910 Army Deck. It features my interpretation of the Department of the Army Seal. I did research on all of the seal elements and depicted period correct elements.

^ how many LE display decks are there? The LE set page says less than 50 LE sets left, are there more than that # of display decks? For some reason I thought the display decks were supposed to be as limited a print run as the actual LE decks...if not, then it's kind of misleading to associate them with the LE deck.

There's a total of 1000 sets of LTD decks maybe minus a small handful due to damages so in theory less than 1000 in mint condition in total. The display decks had their own run and was never stated as exclusive to any particular run. It was offer a free upgrade by Jackson so that those with LTDs could be able to keep their LTD sets unopen and still be able to see the cards. So although I get your point, I don't think it's a perfectly valid. There was no mislead that the display decks are limited to 1000 or a specific number. They are associated with the LTD decks 'cause they share the same cards, but they're in a no-frills tuckcase.

so aren't the display decks supposed to be a nice free bonus for those who shelled out for the LTD decks? You using the term "upgrade" shows that it's inherently somewhat misleading, because "upgrade" can mean something that is only achievable with the base product. e.g. you wouldn't be able to upgrade/add on a part to your computer or your car without having a computer or a car in the first place. What about those that paid for the LTD decks because they liked the upgraded artwork and the more intricate back design? There may be customers who wanted to be able to own the nicer artwork who would have just waited until the kickstarter campaign was over had they known the display decks would be sold individually. Look, this may just be a matter of semantics so we can agree to disagree, but I think if the display decks were always planned to be sold individually jackson could have included a line about it on the kickstarter.

The display decks were a free gift I gave to everyone the pledged for the LTD decks. It should also be noted that I didn't even announce that I was giving the display decks away until ALL LTD decks had been spoken for. I don't find any error in what I did or how I communicated with backers. I guess we agree to disagree.

Not to pile things, but at no time was it stated that the Display Deck was exclusive to Kickstarter only. It stated that it was that to "add bang to buck" those with the LTD tiers would get two extra deck per LTD sets they have. I don't see that as in any de-valuing what people have paid for already with their LTD sets. To me, they get deal by supporting Jackson on Kickstarter. The LTD set went for 75$ with domestic shipping included already. The LTD set is now going for 100$ on the Kings Wild website with shipping being extra. I've seen products stated exclusive to Kickstarter only, but none of Jackson's decks are. It's always be stated that for most of them, except LTD, there will be extras printed available for site purchase. I've gone through things, there's nothing misleading. There's been questions, in the comment sections, asked if Display decks would be sold post-Kickstarter and the answer have been "Yes, pending on inventory count".

I backed the Independence big time on Kickstarter. I'm surprised to see the Display deck offered for only $5 -- frankly I think its underpriced -- but I'm not surprised or upset to see them for sale. I'm gonna get some more!

Whether it's negative or positive rep- at least people are reading your post. Never be afraid of speaking your mind.

I heard about the display decks during a Google hangout, but they were not announced until 3 days before the end of the KS campaign.
It doesn't surprise me the display decks are being sold separately. I don't have a problem with it, and agree that $5 seems to be a pretty good deal. By my calculation there should be about 500 extra display deck sets. There is a pretty ingenious reason for that, I do believe.

I wouldn't sweat the rep stuff too much.  Beyond needing a rep of one (1) to post in the STISO board (among other requirements) it doesn't actually mean all that much.

Guys - cut him a little slack.  You were all n00bz once, no need to make it harder than it is.

I'm happy to see the display decks for sale, especially at that price. Gives me a chance to gift the decks to friends, saves them from touching my stash :p

EDIT: the entire Independence set got sold for $300 on eBay, I hope the person who bought it is kicking themselves for being impatient. Crazy collector's out there sometimes :p

Moving away from Independence, will the next batch of LE Civil War decks be priced the same as the first 200 were? I know it's along way off, just curious.

Thanks in advance.

The LE Civil War are out today as well if you check out the main Kings Wild website page. Last I know, they should be 30$. There wasn't any plan, that I know, to change the price of it.

Looks like there may be some LE CW decks still available. Just picked up some and added a couple display decks.

Wow thanks for the heads-up! Just picked up a couple myself! =)

Taken from KWP fb page

"Starting on Saturday, October 4th - Monday, October 6th I will be having a Kings Wild Halloween Overrun sale. The sale will be for a very short time and will last while supplies remain. This will be a great opportunity for you to grab a fully custom Kings Wild deck for around $5, so that you can enjoy the art and not have to worry about opening a collector's item.

With every deck production, overrun decks are produced. We wanted to create a fun way for us to make these overrun decks available to you at a ridiculous price. Each deck IS UNWRAPPED and out of the cellophane and will have the silver Kings Wild Seal placed on the top of the deck. These decks are not damaged or seconds hands. The overrun decks will only be sold in 6 packs and mixed bricks. Each six pack and mixed brick will include a random assortment of the decks pictured and listed below. In order to keep things simple we will not guarantee what decks you receive or let you choose, but we will make every effort to give you a great assortment. You will also receive a free V1 Federal 52 Collectors Brick Box if you order a mixed brick.

Possible Deck Combinations:

Standard Continental
Standard Crown
LTD Bakerstreet
Holmes
Moriarty v2
Branded White Reserve Note
Unbranded Silver Certificate"

Hahaha, I have an admission to make. I actually don't own any of Jackson's stuff myself, nor have I ever played with any of his decks. I've backed three of his KS campaigns, but for gifting, including the most recent cancelled Army campaign. Great opportunity to get my paws on some his decks and check them out. :)
Part of my Collection updated infrequently but occasionally, when I remember. (I haven't in months.)

Ordered a brick! Even with international shipping @ $40, it's still a decent deal in my opinion...=) I actually almost ordered 2 bricks, but interestingly, the shipping was more than double! I took that as a sign that I was just being greedy and backed down to a single brick...=P Hope I get a decent mix!

Touch of Modern (a flash sale site) is having a 5 day sale on Kings Wild stuff.

They have an assorted sealed brick for $109, as well as Hive decks for $25 a set and the limited Civil War set for $22. I believe it is US only though.

https://www.touchofmodern.com/i/389ZESRM

If you are a new member and use the link above you get $10 instant credit. More than enough to cover shipping.

  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
Little bummed to get all Sherlock decks and a single Branded Reserve Note. I had more sherlock decks than I knew what to do with before 5 more came, haha, that's the gamble I suppose. Different to be gambling ON playing cards instead of with them. I guess I will find out if the KW seal will add value or diminish it when I sell my overstock of Jackson's overstock on eBay.

Edited for clarity

Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

Man, that's rough! I sure hope that doesn't happen to me too! To be fair, we were warned there might be duplicates, but still... One can hope, right? Even more glad I didn't end up ordering 2 bricks now...=P

I ordered 2 bricks, went to pay, but the overseas shipping was $90. I backed out, and had them both shipped to a friend's house in America. He's going to stick them in his suitcase, along with other Kickstarter cards from the past half year. I get to see them in January 2015. Instead of paying for shipping, I can pay the excess baggage charges for another suitcase if needed, or just slip my friend $50 for his trouble and still come out way ahead.

I didn't get any of the Sherlock decks the first time around, so the Halloween sale was perfect for me. I hope I get the whole series in duplicate. I also hope it was stuffed with as many Black Reserve notes (don't have any) and Silver Certificates and White Reserves, as they are some of my favourite Kings Wild cards.

Even though I won't see this cards until January, it was my 2nd best card purchase this year. My favourite decks were The Hive.

patience > shitty international shipping

Duplicates is one thing - quintuplicates is quite another!  That's a bit less than fair.

Make sure that your friend packs it as baggage and uses a TSA lock on the bag.  Some agents confuse stacks of playing cards with bricks of C4 explosive on the bag X-ray machine.  I've had it happen twice.

My brick arrived today, and I actually got a pretty decent mix! Slightly skewed toward the Sherlock series (5/12), but that's ok with me because I didn't get in on the KS or buy them later... I even got a black reserve note deck, which is awesome because they're my favorite KW deck...=)

Overall quite happy - didn't get more than 2 of any particular deck...=) Thanks Jackson!

I don't think I got a shipping notice, but then again I'm lousy at checking my emails from my "retailers and junk mail" address.
