No, it's anonymous.

Nope. That's the beauty of it. It's a temporary system to get you guys introduced to a future one that really encourages you to post well.

That's really nice.
Someone gave me a + Karma :)

I was kind of wondering the same thing, but figured it was a feature to be expanded on later. It does feel nice to see a + karma pop up randomly though. Any spoilers as to what you guys are going to do with the karma system?

Who did you tick off, Magic? I know in ancient days, being smitten was a death thing. Does this mean you are exiled to an island with only a handful of soldiers to watch over you? But on a serious note, I am looking forward to finding out the true meaning behind the karma thing...I just love the fact that they used the word "Karma" love it

I am not sure, and I don't want to jinx it. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see a digital clapping of hands in my favor. Every time I see one more added I stand in front of my computer, take a bow, and give a thank you speech to all of the amazing people here on The Discourse! I may do a back flip once it hits 10...or attempt one at least lol. So if you see "Karma +10" by my name and I have disappeared, I broke my neck doing the back flip lmao

I no shit just attempted the back flip...it didn't go well at all. 6'2" makes for a bad time landing on my back. I'll stick to doing back flips into a pool. Perhaps I will try a front flip next time? lmfao

*edit* It looks like some trickster went and smited everyone...no why would someone do that? That is just malicious and mean.

Yeah, I noticed that too.
But just being optimistic and hey, everyone must have both good and bad sides, right? Haha.

I was actually enjoying having no smite. So if you be the smiter reading this...you hurt my little feelings. Shame on you

Don't be angry, you still have +15.
And I don't know who did this too, I also got one smite.

I'm not angry, I do like seeing the +15. I am just hoping to make the person who smited all of us to feel bad. That is just mean, and we are all supposed to be family.

I'm going to have to think you will get a peak at like the next vortex deck, or something vortex/aether related.

Honestly, I don't think Alex has any "plans" for the karma meter. I think it was just implemented to be a neat function of the forum. I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem like it would be a very accurate way of voting or what not since its anonymous and anyone on the forums can use it multiple times, most likely just there for fun.

If Alex has other plans for it, he has not let me in on them

I think it's more like a reputation mark on this board.
It works, but not 100% if someone just smite someone up without reasons.

But I don't think anyone will smite people just for fun or to make people look worse.

also people could create a rep for someone just by applauding the guy as many times as you can. curt mentioned many so maybe its how many good comments you post that someone applauds you? IDK Alex please just tell us if you will use it in the future or what.

It's just an introduction to a feature that will show up sooner or later on here. That feature will be much more reliable in terms of gauging the quality of people's posts. Right now, it's somewhat helpful in viewing how much someone contributed - but of course it's not very reliable and prone to abuse.

I do not think this is a great idea. You could upset one person and he could remain  >:( for some time, he could then  :o to his homies and do drive by hits. As for me, The love I take is usually equal to the love I make despite the fact I can be A complete  :P at times.
