A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Incorrect Bicycle Oak Leaf Back Auction?
« on: January 20, 2014, 02:02:43 AM »
Although the auction has ended, I am quite certain that this deck was misrepresented in the auction in a number of ways…
1) The deck is referred to as an Oak Leaf back, when in fact it is actually a plain Leaf back refer to pics of an actual Oak Leaf back…
2) It should be noted that even though this is a Leaf back deck, in this case, the Ace and Joker belong to a deck other than a Bicycle brand deck of cards; perhaps a Bee deck, Uncle Sam deck, or other deck that shared the same back, but was called a different name… Thus, the box pictured did not actually belong to the deck shown…

As the title reads… I'm in search of the elusive Bicycle Grand Opening Deck… Willing to trade, pay, or both...

Posting pics of three exceedingly rare decks with unique finishes…

Blue Bicycle Race Backs c.1940-1955 - High Finish
Red Bee No.92 Back No.67 c.1940-1955 - Smooth Finish

Playing Card Plethora / Playing Card Art
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:36:18 PM »
Thought it might be fun to post some pics of art or objects that encompass Playing Cards… Being this is a topic we all love and care about, family, friends, and we sometimes purchase Playing Card related art that adorn our homes… For the holidays, my lovely wife gave me this piece by Jason Brooks, the famous fashion illustrator… Not sure if I first read about the artist here or elsewhere, but I'm glad I did… Just got it back from the framer today and it's absolutely gorgeous…

Playing Card Plethora / Daniel Madison Rounders, Players, Dealers...???
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:56:19 PM »
(1) Could someone please clarify the different releases by Daniel Madison and what the differences are between the decks.  In addition, I was given to understand that when initially released this was a marked deck; thus, making it unappealing to me as a collector, as this is not a legitimate deck of cards, but rather a "trick" deck.  (2) Are all of the decks marked?  (3) It may sound silly, but why is there such a demand for these decks?  And by this I mean, handling, finish, design, scarcity, etc… Thanks… -J.

Playing Card Plethora / Marc Jacobs Vandal Playing Cards - USPCC
« on: December 20, 2013, 11:36:54 AM »
Didn't see anything about these here yet and thought they were wicked… Just picked up a few decks designed by the famous designer Marc Jacobs printed by the United States Playing Card Company… Looks as if every card is unique and designed by Jacobs himself… They're going for stupid money on eBay, but you can order them right through http://www.marcjacobs.com/special-items/special-items/vndlplngdeck/vandal-playing-cards?sort= for $8… shipping's ridiculous at $10, but orders over $50 ship for free for the holidays… Picked up a few extra if anyone's interested…

I am fortunate enough to be the new owner of a salesman sample of early 1900 Bee Playing Card Backs.  Although this is a new acquisition, I thought it important for everyone who doesn't frequent that page to see the artistry and intricacy that went into making these backs… I've been searching years for these decks and this is the first time I have ever seen them for sale / auction… I can only imagine that the Two of Hearts was glued backwards and is an error in the sample… Enjoy and hope you get as much joy looking at them as I have…  Please see closeups of the cards in the next post due to image constraints...

Just loving this deck…

Playing Card Plethora / Bicycle Street Art Playing Cards
« on: September 06, 2013, 01:44:08 AM »
From bicyclecards.com
Aleix Gordo Hostau, a renowned muralist and street artist out of Barcelona, Spain, designed these playing cards for the Bicycle® Brand. His graffiti and street art are well-known amongst followers of the urban art scene, and his bubblegum monsters are some of his most popular designs. See them in action on every card in this deck.

The Street Art Deck features original artwork on the front and backs of the cards, including the face cards and jokers. These decks were printed in the USA at the United States Playing Card Company and printed on premium stock with a quality finish.

Playing Card Plethora / Bicycle Peacock Deck by USPC
« on: August 01, 2013, 09:06:05 PM »
I was doing a search for Bicycle decks, when I came across these: Lot 2 Bicycle® Peacock Deck Stylish Simple Splendid Playing Cards... Thought it would be refreshing to post a deck that has nothing to do with Kickstarter (even if it appears to be a Merz deck)... Thoughts?

23
As the title states, I have posted many vintage and Modern Decks... If you would like to purchase direct, feel free to contact me directly...

Unfortunately I did not win this, although I did bid rather heavy on it... Within the last 4 seconds, the bidding jumped from $40 to $375... What colors... From the late 1800s... Can you believe how these colors pop...
