Playing Card Plethora / [Review]White Lions Series A blue

White Lions Series A blue

Handling
THESE cards handle soooo well! They´re a dream for magicians and cardistry performers!
Fan like butter, not too slippery and stay well aligned in cuts.
The stock is stiff and goes easily back into his original shape which means this is perfect for crimp work ;-)
The finish seems to be the good old Air Cushion finish.
Don´t quote me on that since its not written on the box which finish has been used.
Springs are good with these cards too!

Design
The back design is rather simple, like a Bee Casino style deck.
Small Splitspades in a light blue all over the back and a white border.
The Jokers are one of the best Jokers i have seen (loved the ones in the Split Spade Lions series as well).
2 Identical Jokers are supplied together with a double backed card and a card which shows a drawing on the card
throwing technique.
The court cards have customs faces.
The King of Spades has David Blaines face, the Jack of Clubs has the Buck Twins faces and the other court cards have
the faces of members from David´s Team.
The Ace of Spades is designed like a face of a Lion.
Simple but i like it!
The deck itself comes in Juan Tamariz stack order.A well known memorized deck order for magicians.
I heard that the blue Split Spade Lions deck was pre-stacked in Tamariz stack as well. (can´t confirm that since i only own the black Split Spade Lions)
The Queen of Spades holds a 4 of Hearts in her hands.

The box design is great! One of the bests out there in my opinion.
The front design has a hidden 7 of diamonds reveal in it.
On the flap it says " P L A Y I  I N D I G O  C A R D S"

I shoot 4 of them at the price of 8€ each at ebay.
I rate this deck 5/5
A perfect deck for my use.
Get yourself a couple of these because i think the price will increase the next year (when the red White Lions probably will come out).

Playing Card Plethora / Bicycle Johnny Cupcakes

Bicycle Johnny Cupcakes Deck

Handling
At first they fan pretty good, but after toying around with them the fans start to become clumpsy.
When you drop them from chest hight on a hard floor they instantly split on the corners.
The Box says "Air Cushion Finish" but they are slick like plastic cards.
For cuts and flourishes they are great because they stay together in a unit when cut into portions/packets.
Not so great for springs!

Design
Those come with black 808 Rider backs.
A double backer red/black in Rider back design and a empty card are included.
I say empty because they left the indexes and the middle of the card EMPTY so that you can
draw yourself a card on to it in cases of losing a card.
Which is unique so far, never seen this kind of "blank face" cards.
All cards are custom designed. Also you get 2 identical Joker cards.
The overall design is very neat and somehow different to all other designs.

Would the quality of the card stock be better and the finish a different one - i would get myself some more.
I bought 3 decks from the official shop 7,99USD each deck plus 10USD shipping to germany.
They ship out the next day and the cards arrived here after 6 work days - which is pretty fast!

Don´t miss them for your collection - for performing hard core sleight of hand not sooo great but def. a eye catcher!
I rate the deck 3/5 due the lack of a better stock and finish.

Deck Reviews! / [REVIEW] Bicycle Samurai Deck
« on: November 11, 2011, 06:49:54 PM »
Hello Folks!
Today i recieved my 2 decks of the Bicycle Samurai Edition.

Handling :
The cards feel to me like standard Bicycle 808 Rider cards.
They do fan easily (thumb and pressure fans) and faro good.
Also for doing cuts (i´m not really a flourisher, but i do fancy false cuts) they do the job fine!
No problems here.
Springing the cards is okay as well.

Design of the cards :
As you have seen on the pictures/trailer the design theme is the Samurai.
The backs show a Samurai and a japanese/chinese symbol over the head of the Samurai.
I don´t know what this means, maybe someone who can read the symbol can translate it for us.
The borders on the back design are nice and detailed.
They said it has a subtle one way design but i haven´t been able to spot the difference so far.
No custom court cards,standard faces!
A bit of a let down, well at least i can use my double facers with them ;-)
The deck has 3 jokers which are designed to be Samurais.
2 of them looking to the right and the other 1 is looking to the right.
Interessting for the magicians here ;-)
The Ace of Spades is beautifull designed and has the words " SAMURAI" SECRET WEAOPN on it.
Underneath says it the U.S. Playing Card Company.
It also has the same chinese/japanese symbol above it.
And last but not least a blank faced card is also included!
The box it self has no reveal, which in my mind is not important at all.
On the flap it says SAMURAI FIRST EDITION.

The designer is Sam Hayles who has done other projects like the Karnival Decks.
I like the Dose and Dead Eyes decks (yeah throw rocks at me now!) for performing spooky/bizarre magic
and this deck is a more commercial design so to speak.

If i have to rate this deck i would give it 4 out of 5.
It handles well and is not overpowered in design. Its rather simple.
For the price tag of 6,95€ ( USD 9,55 ) i would say i would not buy plenty of them to perform my every day magic with them.
But they are def. a eye catcher!
I think i will get myself a brick of them after christmas.

The shipping from france to germany took 2 days and the packaging was secure.
